Kythera Metro System

With no basic bus service to speak of, the island of Kythera is aiming high with its ambitious public transportation plans – a full metro system. Over 80 stations will one day span the island, connecting even the smallest, most remote one-goat-hamlets to the vibrant cultural and economic hubs of Livadi, Hora, and Potamos. Both visitors and locals will be able to board automated carriages at the island’s northernmost beach, Agios Nikolaos, and speed beneath the island to the capital, Hora, in less time than it takes to enjoy a delicious Kytherian gyros  – salad included.
